The Bears of Katmai Series
Katmai National Park and Preserve is an American national park encompassing nearly 6,400 square miles of the Alaska Peninsula. Its vast wilderness includes tundra, forests, rivers, lakes and mountains. The park is home to one of the most significant populations of brown bears that congregate in its rivers when the sockeye salmon are spawning. In 2019, Sue travelled to Katmai in order to see the Grizzly bears in person. Her days were spent on the banks of Geographic Harbor and Kinak Bay while the bears feasted just a few feet away. That experience formed the basis of her series entitled The Bears of Katmai.
